The Mash Tun Menu, Parties and Events

All meals, including breakfast are served in the bar, with all food freshly prepared and sourced locally by Mark Braidwood and his chef Nick Davis.

Mark and Nick are passionate about Scottish contemporary cooking, and you will find The Mash Tun Menu a treasure trove of fantastic flavours.

Mash Tun Serving Hours 

Mash Tun Meals are served during the following hours: -

Monday - Friday 12pm until 2pm and 6pm until 9pm

Saturday 12pm until 9pm

Sunday 12.30pm until 9pm

Weddings, Private Parties and Events

Weddings and private parties are welcomed and catered for, The Mash Tun providing a unique venue for your celebration or event.

We can accommodate up to 43 people sitting at tables, with an additional 6 people at the bar.

In addition to the Mash Tun Menu, our popular Mash Tun Hog Roasts, Buffets and BBQs are available for parties and events.

Outside & Private Catering

The Mash Tun Team

Since completing training in nearby Elgin, Mark Braidwood began his career in London as a pastry chef at Harrods.

He remained in the city for many years, gaining experience under the guidance of requtable chefs, such as Greg Brown of the London Capital Club, the exclusive private members club for business professionals, and Andy Turner who supplies the fine dining experience for corporate business entertainment. 

Mark also gained invaluable knowledge working at Brown's Restaurant in Mayfair and finally at Silver Fleet, the celebrated dining cruising fleet on the River Thames, as Operations Manager, where he controlled staff events over a fleet of five sailing venues.  Mark has catered for many celebrities including Sven-Goran Eriksson and Prince Philip.

Nick Davis has been working as a chef now for over 20 years and during this time has travelled extensively through Europe and America, finally settling with his wife and family in Aberlour. 

Nick has been part of the kitchen team since day one when Mark and Karen took over the running of The Mash Tun in 2004.  He has greatly influenced the Mash Tun Menu and feels very passionate about producing great quality food using only the finest Scottish ingredients.

Assisting Mark and Nick in the kitchen are Morag Goodall and Nina White.

Morag's influence features strongly in the sweet aspect of the menu, as all the desserts are homemade by Morag. Nina is the newest member of the kitchen team and is currently attending Moray College to further her skills as a budding chef.
